In fact, energy intake is no longer linked to output. We do not have to walk long distances to find or to hunt, clean, preserve, cook and store our food. Nor to grow, harvest, and replant it day after day, year after year. Nor do we have to keep ourselves cool or warm unaided.
In fact, most of our days are spent using our brains not our bodies, in specially conditioned spaces. Meantime the body is saving up for the famine that never comes.
