Friends Are Super Club - Friendship Group for Children ages 6-11 Friends Are Super (F.A.S.) Club

The "Kids Club" is a pilot social skills program for children ages 6 through 11 with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. The program meets weekly for 8 weeks and emphasizes the development and practice of basic interpersonal skills to obtain and maintain friends. The skills emphasized include sharing, complimenting others, initiating interactions and maintaining self control. The development and practice of these skills are embedded in an activity-based model that includes specially designed, structured activities that are rich in movement and sensory-based qualities, which are intended to help facilitate a "just right" state for learning and social participation. The group is currently led by master's level occupational therapy students from the University of Washington.
