Tentative lecture schedule

Course texts

Computing resources

The Informatics computing lab (I-Lab) of the Biomedical and Health Informatics Graduate Program, located in T-277, Health Sciences Building, provides a Linux server and desktop systems with a Common Lisp programming environment. To obtain an account and learn about access, after registering for the course, contact the Informatics Lab Manager, in the Lab.

Lecture slides and notes

Slides on Lisp are on the Common Lisp information page, accessible from the main course page.

Reading assignments

Reading assignments should be completed by the indicated class date, in order to be prepared for class. Some of the readings will be available through the UW Electronic Course Reserves (Eres) system, at the MEBI 531 page.

Homework assignments are listed here. Unless otherwise noted, homework is due by the beginning of class on the due date.

Project proposals are due Thursday, November 1. This gives you about a month to complete them. The length should be no more than one page, and should be a clear, precise description of what you are going to do. A PDF file is preferred, but plain text, paper, PostScript and MS-Word are acceptable.

Draft project reports are due by Tuesday, Dec. 4!

Solutions to Homework

Solutions will be emailed.

Final Exam

There will NOT be a final exam for the course this time. Instead, each student will be expected to do a biomedical programming project, including a short written description and an oral presentation at the end of the quarter.
