In addition, frequently changing/adjusting the assistance exercises in my workout schedule helps to keep you on your toes and keeps things from getting stale. I also will print up what my goals, let's say for a meet, and post them in my office, my truck, etc. So I see them, am reminded and constantly aware of what I need to do and what I want to achieve. Also, you should have a routine made for an entire cycle. Always know what you need to do in the gym prior to getting there.
