It was a Sunday with not much to do so I figured I'd join the Cascade Orienteering Club's Canoe-O race. I was sort of hoping to smoke the competition by paddling a sea kayak instead of a canoe. I was in turn smoked by someone paddling a windsurfer sans sail and then again by a particularly energetic couple in a canoe. I came in third.
Photo of me at one of the controls stolen from COC's web page.
The course didn't take long so I figured I'd paddle about. I ended
up circumnavigating Lake Union and going all the way to the locks and back.
I hadn't planned for a full day of kayaking and didn't bring any lunch.
Fortunately I found some blackberries growing out over the water.
