Mt Daniel (9/30/00) - Way too easy

Mt. Daniel had always been on my tick list.  I knew it wasn't a major climb but I thought it was a descent sized mountain.  People always mentioned the name with a certain sort of reverence, so I figured it was like, you know, a climb.

Hiking past Cathedral Rock on the way in.  I climbed this with Cormac and Sinead about a here ago.  Lotsa loose rock as  Cormac will tell you.

The other side of Cathedral rock, as seen in reflection.

Scott traversing the snowfield used to get up the ridge.

We followed the north side of the ridge along to an obvious looking notch.  Unfortunately the far side of the notch leading to the glacier was 70 degree talus.  Bad idea.  We eventually scrambled to the south side a of the ridge and found a trail there.

The summit as seen from the notch that didn't go.  The true summit is the middle of the three pointy things.

Some crevasses as seen from the impassible notch.  Too bad we couldn't climb down to this glacier because then we could have stood  at the edge of a crevasse on one leg while waving our arms and remaining leg around in an effort to make the climb more interesting.

Scott at the summit with Steve climbing up.
