Sand Skiing at the Bruneau Sand Dunes, Idaho,  10 / 25 / 03 -10 / 26 / 03

Four Seattleites braved a lengthy drive to hook up with some Utards and I think a few Idahoians at Bruneau State Park in southern Idaho.  This is an awesome place.  The campground is very pleasant and equipped with solar powered hot showers.  Also right there is an observatory (clear skies and far from city lights) that offers some celestial viewing to complete this other world experience.  Among the Utards this is a yearly ritual.  Click here to see Gambrelli's excellent trip report from last year.

Sam skiing with a tumbleweed on his head.

Having a tumbleweed on your head can protect you from sun induced confusion.

Phil doing some paramarking.

Sam and Russ returning along the crest of the dune after a day of turns.

A bunch of tumbleweed that collected in a dune basin.

Kathie stylin' in a cowboy hat.

Ryan on the last run of the second day.

Free the heel, the mind will follow.  Mark zips another one  in.

For her last descent of the day Gambrelli pulled out here parawing.

Free from the earth.

The lack of wind kept Gambrelli from making a lengthier glide.  While she was tempted to head straight for the cars at the far side of the lake a more conservative flight plan was the order of the day.
