Argonaut Peak, Northwest Rib, 8/4/01-8/5/01

The norhtwest rib is the the right skyline. The climb begins at the notch at the base of the summit block and is accessed via the snow finger leading up to it. Bring crampons, it gets fairly steep. The descent is down the left skyline, across the snowfield barely visible on top. A couple rappels land you on the other side of the ridge. A very chossy gully brings you back to the snow below the summit block.

A closer look. Too close to really see much of the route.

A mountain goat on our approach to high camp.

Tom

A nice view of the north side of Stuart.

Tom climbing. It is mostly 5.6. We did it in two long running belays.

At the summit. Brian is looking for the descent route.

The first of two rappels. We almost descended the wrong gully, which would have been epic I think.
