3/18/03, from Grace Ning Gu:  PDQ (Public Data Queries) is a user-friendly program for manipulating the Census PUMS from the 2000 5% files all the way back to the 1850 I-PUMS.  It's developed by the U of Michigan Library and hasn't been publicized it yet on the Web.  You can get a preview at http://www.lib.umich.edu/govdocs/census2/pdqexp.ppt.  If interested, you may send a message to info@pdq.com and ask for free password to the PDQ Toolbox and information on how to download the software.
