I grew up in Yakima, WA. It is a medium sized town in the middle of Washington state known for apples and wine. It is very pretty in a high-desert fashion. I attended an IB high school and was a columnist for the local paper. I went to Reed College in Portland which is very pretty in a rains-constantly fashion. Reed is an unusual but pleasant place to spend your undergraduate time, it has a conservative curriculum but a progressive student body. I majored in physics and obtained my Reactor Operator License from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission while mucking about with various other projects along the way. After graduation, I decided that I hadn't soaked up enough rain and so came to Seattle and the Biophysics program at the University of Washington. I currently reside there, alternately in the Daniel/Regnier Labs and my Eastlake apartment that I share with Ariah.
