Two versions of the University of Washington Human Subjects Manual (1999 edition) are available on this site.
Please remember that policies and procedures are currently under revision, and that this Manual is thus not completely current. It is posted here for ease of reference; however, in cases of disagreement between this version of the Manual and the statements posted on the HSD web site, the HSD web site should be taken as authoritative. The best one for web browsing is the HTML version, which is modified slightly from the official printed version to be more appropriate for reading on the web. In the form posted here, the Manual was tagged and otherwise edited to link with other material on the old HSD web site; some or all of these links may now be obsolete.
Another version of the Manual is available in the form of the WORD document files from which the standard printed version was generated (the one that appeared in departmental reference stations and in the Reference Division at Suzzallo Library. This version is more convenient for people who wish to print out their own paper copy.
Please note that the WORD document files are identical to the officially distributed printed version, as it was when the printed copy was the reflection of official policy. It has not been revised to keep up whith changes in polcies over the last decade or so, and is thus increasingly a historical rather than a current document. The HTML version was for a while updated as policies changed, but the version posted here should not be taken as authoritative.
The Manual deals with University of Washington Human Subjects policy and procedures. Current information can be found on the HSD web site.
