INTRODUCTION
Script Explorer is a ToolBook authoring utility that
will help you find and organize your scripts. It builds
a list of all handlers in the books you specify, and
then provides this list to you to sort, search, and filter.
Script Explorer is particular useful for finding handlers
that you know exist but don't remember where they're located
(what book? on what page? in which object?). It allows for
an increased level of code-reuse because you now have all
handlers in all your books all in one place.
Our exclusive "ScriptLink" feature allows you to jump from one
handler to the script of a referenced handler. For example,
if you're viewing a handler and notice that it sends a message
to a different handler, you can highlight that handler name and
instantly display the script of the referenced handler.
KEY FEATURES
- Builds a reference list of all handlers in multiple books.
- Can sort all handlers in multiple books by type
(i.e. handle, get, set), handler name, book, and object.
- Supports up to 500 books per library, and up to 500 libraries.
Libraries are used to organize the books you process in
Script Explorer by project. For example, if you design a CBT
book which consists of two SBK's, you can create a library of
those three books as well as all of the Asymetrix ToolBook II
system books. Then, you're able to list the handlers for all of
these books--as if all the books were one.
- Finds handlers based on specified search criteria including:
handler type, keyword search in handler name, keyword(s) in
script of handler, and specified books of the library.
- Displays script of up to three handlers simultaneously.
- "ScriptLink" feature allows you to highlight a handler name
in a script and then display the script of the highlighted
handler. For example, if you're viewing the script for
a handler named "ASYM_MessageBox" and see that it references
another handler named "_ASYM_MessageBox" you can highlight
this reference and then display the _ASYM_MessageBox handler.
- Uses dBASE IV files and indexes for fast listing and searching.
- Features the Asymetrix ToolBook Database Connection software.
- Uses a VBX grid component which can displays thousands of
handler names simultaneously.
This is a 5.0 version but I'll have a 6.0 version ready eventually.
In the spirit of "Slade", this is a FREE utility. Also, I'll provide
the source code to anyone who has a license to use FarPoint's Spread/VBX
2.0 control in Author level. (Without the VBX's license file, you won't
be able to open the book at Author).
Let me know if you'd like me to send it to you via e-mail. That goes
for the rest of you OpenScript gurus...
