Dr. Roy-Byrne is Editor in Chief of Journal Watch for Psychiatry, Associate Editor of Depression and Anxiety, on the editorial board of Biological Psychiatry, and on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Anxiety disorders Association of America. He is President-Elect of the Society for Biological Psychiatry, and has been included in Best Doctors in America for the past decade. Dr. Roy-Byrne's past research has focused on the phenomenology and neurobiology of mood and anxiety disorders, with a special interest in benzodiazepine tranquilizers and the role of the benzodiazepine receptor in mood and anxiety disorders. More recently, Dr. Roy-Byrne has focused his research efforts on dissemination of evidence based treatments for anxiety disorders in the primary care setting. He recently coordinated the Collaborative Care for Anxiety and Panic (CCAP) multi-site effort that established the clinical and cost-effectiveness of a multimodal intervention to identify and treat panic disorder in the primary care setting. His current National Institute of Mental HealthÐfunded K award focuses on developing interventions for disadvantaged anxious patients seen in low-income/public sector primary care settings. He is currently coordinating a large multi-site effort to test the effectiveness of a novel multimodal set of interventions, CALM, for the treatment of multiple anxiety disorders seen in the primary care setting.
