Sony Vaio PCG-FXA53 Linux - on - laptop

A Sony Vaio PCG-FXA53 was acquired, no frills. It was already partitioned into

/dev/hda1 NTFS 12 GB
/dev/hda2 extended
/dev/hda5 NTFS 12 GB

and Windows XP Home edition installed.

Using the Knoppix 3.0 version of the Debian Linux is possible. Just get an ISO image of the Knoppix version 3.0, burn onto a CD, insert into the CD/DVD drive of the Sony, and boot. The Vaio's hardware will be successfully autodetected and this Knoppix will run Linux on your laptop.
