Japanese Language Printing from Homer

This document is meant to serve as an example of what is needed to enable Japanese Language printing from the Homer cluster.

The system involved was a 3rd-party system, with Twinbridge Japanese Partner loaded as the Japanese language input method, using the EWAN keyboard program distributed by C&C, and using Pine 3.95.

The user had configured Pine 3.95 to:

A lot of trial and error was involved:

The resolution was:
due to a bug in the ansiprt command, the "attached-to-ansi" print command didn'twork, and sent out garbage to the printer. The bug occurs only when a user is printing to an attached printer, using filters for sending and displaying.

To resolve the problem, a change had to be made to the "Configure Printer" command in Pine 3.95 to:

The Pine Team will be fixing the ansiprt command now that they have been made aware of it.
