Dear Jon, LuAnn, Sara, and Krista,

Here is a set of some of the photos that Larry took:

Day One: Tuesday July 17. We picked the girls up, drove around a bit before coming home. This is a shot of them in their room!

Day Two: We started slowly in the morning, and then took off to the University and the Ballard Locks.

Krista, Sara, and Ann in front of the statue of Grieg in a lovely corner of the UW campus.
Krista, Sara, and Larry in front of Suzzalo the graduate library on the UW campus, and same shot up close, and this one inside!
Last UW shot—Ann, Sara, and Krista on a walk.

Day Three: We started early to get in a whole day at Mt. Rainier!!

Our first great view of the Mountain!
July 19, and there is still this much snow in the parking lot!
The start of the walk, with the Mountain in the background.
The first view of the bear.
We walked past the bear, looking for much better views of the Mountain.
While walking back to the car, we see that the bear has moved . . . and here is another,  and another,  and another, and yet . . . picture of bear!!

Day Four: we took it easy, staying close to home, shopping at the center, but there are no photos!

Day Five: we started at 8:30am to drive around the Olympic Peninsula to see the OCEAN!!

Starting at the Ferry at Edmonds, remember waiting for a long time in a long line of cars, but finally—on the ferry!

We drove around the top of the peninsula, stopping at Port Angeles for provisions for a picnic lunch, and final stopped for photos at Forks.
Our first beach stop was at Ruby Beach, where there are large rocks, and you couldn’t help but get your feet wet!
Our next beach stop was a sandy beach, and again—you just had to get in the water.  At first, we had our sweatshirts on,  but the sun came out,  and the girls went in the water. At first, it was just getting legs wet,  but guess what happened here!! Now they are wet, and can play in the sand, getting cozy with the sand,  and then rinsed off.  Sara likes it, but it is cold. Are they finished? Not     even   closestill at it! And now they are finished!
Our last beach was another sandy one, but it was late enough that the cold kept the water only on their feet!
It was a long drive home—getting home at 10:30!!

Day Six: taking it easy today, we went to a couple of Seattle city beaches—no photos!!

Day Seven: Our last day was spent downtown and at the Space Needle, from up top, and in front of the Chihuly glass! And finally—the monorail.

Thanks for being such great house-guests and such good sports about the food and the long drives!!
Love,
 Uncle Larry and Aunt Ann!
