About me...
I am a fifth year PhD student in the Biomedical and Health Informatics program at the University of Washington. My advisor is Wanda Pratt . I am a member of the iMed research group

I am investigating expertise sharing among lay individuals for solving problems that arise in their health situations. My research focuses on the rich context of breast cancer, where integrating and making sense of a broad range of often complex and unfamiliar personal health information can be challenging. People who have experienced breast cancer can offer a unique form of expertise (i.e., “patient expertise”) through their advice for dealing with day to day problems people commonly face in their breast cancer experience. My goals are to (1) deepen our understanding of the needs, strategies, and barriers surrounding patient expertise sharing among lay individuals who share similar health situations, and then (2) use this understanding to facilitate and extend support for patient expertise sharing.

Other research projects I have previously been involved with:

Keeping found things found (KFTF) project: Understanding how people manage collections of personal information and the kinds of support they need.
PIs: William Jones, PhD & Harry Bruce PhD, Information School, University of Washington

Using multi-attribute utility theory to incorporate patient preferences into IMRT planning decisions for prostate cancer.
PI: Mark Phillips PhD, Radiation Oncology, University of Washington.

Probability format and expected utility vioalations.
PI: Jason Doctor PhD, School of Pharmacy, University of Southern California.
