The skills inventory is a project that took a great deal of work to complete, but is almost never used. This is because the skill sets are not appropriate to the projects that we work on and the availability periods must be entered manually by an administrator. Also, the application is very slow. The multiple screens of skills take a long time to fill out. There is currently no active owner for the project, and it is likely destined for disuse.
If the skill sets were changed to be more appropriate to the setting in Client Services and the availability periods handled better, this would be a good start to making this a usable application. There are other issues, but a more extensive study of the application and the problem that it is supposed to solve would be needed to address them all.
