Helioseismology (seismology of the
Sun!):
- An overview of helioseismology and the
workings of the Java applet below, which
demonstrates how ion acoustic waves propagate in
the Sun.
- A Java applet that
demonstrates polar/spherical raytracing as used in
helioseismology (seismology of the Sun).

Europa and Interplanetary
Oceanography:
- A mock proposal to research a
mathematical model of the linear diapir hypothesis
for the formation of Europan double ice ridges, to
explore the validity of that hypothesis. Just an
assignment from a geophysics class, and the
implementation was a little simplistic, but the
idea is fun.
- A quick calculation of tidal accelerations: comparing the
effects of the sun and other planets of the solar
system on Earth's tides, and the Jupiter tides on
Europa by comparison.

Other geophysical, mathematical, &
oceanographic fun stuff:
- A Java applet that
demonstrates seismic raytracing in rectangular
coordinates, ie near the surface.
- An analysis of gravity data taken in the
Seattle area to learn about the Seattle Fault
and about uniqueness issues in imaging a fault via
gravimetry.
- Recording Astronomical Events From My
Very Own Office.
- An introduction to beamforming.
- Overview of multi-phase linear regression.
- A quaint little graphical proof of the Pythagorean
Theorem.

coordinates, ie near the surface.
